Home and Hope - A Community Call to Action @ Potawatomi Hotel & Casino | Milwaukee | Wisconsin | United States

As part of our 150th Anniversary Celebration, Jewish Family Services (JFS) convenes this community wide call to action event to address the urgent need for safe and affordable housing, which has emerged as a leading social justice issue of our time.

JFS proudly welcomes Professor Matthew Desmond, whose local research, as chronicled in the Pulitzer-Prize-winning book, Evicted – Poverty and Profit in the American City, casts a spotlight on a complex problem that demands collaborative solutions.

In naming Evicted one of the ten best books of 2016, the New York Times described it as “An exhaustively researched, vividly realized and above all unignorable book – after Evicted, it will no longer be possible to have a serious discussion about poverty without having a serious discussion about housing.”
