Healthy Lifestyles – Facts About STDs

The resources on this page provide information about some of the facts of STDs.

Few Americans are willing to talk about sexually transmitted infections, or STIs, but we simply cannot afford to avoid these discussions any longer. Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) affect individuals of all ages, ethnicity, and gender preference. STDs take a heavy toll on young people. The CDC estimates that youth ages 15-24 make up just over one quarter of the sexually active population, but account for half of the 20 million new sexually transmitted infections that occur in the United States each year.
